Sidewalk Quilt top by Then Came June
Simple, yet packs a punch! The pattern is well written and easy to follow, even for a beginner quilter. The most difficult part is the triangle blocks and the pattern does a great job of walking you though this part with clear instruction.
The quilt I created is for a twin size bed. The pattern was easy to modify for the size I needed. For fabrics, I followed the fabric requirements according to the pattern (of course adding a bit for the twin side modification) and grouped my fabrics into colors. For example, there are several dark blue prints -- different prints, but all reading dark blue. Same with light blue, black , gold and gray. The background fabric is Cotton Couture in Haze by Michael Miller. This solid print gives a nice break in the colors and a place for the eye to rest.
Most of the prints I used are by Carolyn Freidlander. I have been collecting her fabrics for years, so it was fun to dig though my stash for a variety of prints. To help you create your own Sidewalk quilt or even just help build your stash of rich colored fabrics, we have created some bundles. They bundles can be a starting point in collecting the fabrics for your quilt. I encourage you to dig though your stash and add to these as needed. Have fun and play with the colors!
